Elder Candidate: Konrad La Prade

by | Oct 17, 2018 | Blog, Community, Deacons, Leadership, Mission, Theology

The Elders of Exodus Belmont presented Konrad LaPrade for consideration as an Elder.

A little about being an elder…

The qualifications of an elder are in 1 Timothy 3, 2 Timothy 2, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5.

Here is what 1 Timothy 3 says…

The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. (ESV)

At Exodus, we have a fairly lengthy vetting process to be an elder. Konrad has completed this. Our elders have unanimously affirmed that he should be presented to you today.

This is not to suggest that Konrad is a perfect man…but we do see, by God’s grace, evidence of maturity in Konrad’s life.

A little about Konrad…

Konrad is married to Joy and together they have three children: Kathryn, 9, Jonah, 6, and Elizabeth 1. They moved to Gaston County 5.5 years ago for Konrad’s job as a sales manager with the local newspaper. Besides his love of warm weather, Konrad is a tech enthusiast and a productivity junkie. On Friday nights, he can most often be found sitting around a kerosene heater (or fire pit) talking about Jesus.

He serves at Exodus as a CG leader, serves with the prison ministry and has been a general source of wisdom for the elders for some time.

A little about the process…

The Elders are putting him forward for your consideration.
You have 1 month to give us any concerns you have about Konrad. Those need to be in writing and sent to info@theexoduschurch.org with your name included.
Any concern will be explored with Konrad. If something is brought to us that needs to slow this down or disqualifies Konrad, we will report that to you.
Our members will vote to affirm Konrad or not the week of November 5th.
Then, Lord willing, we will present him as an elder.

In the meantime, Please pray for our church. Please pray for Konrad and his family. Please pray for wisdom from the Lord for our members.
