Groundbreaking Ceremony – 9am

  • We will celebrate all that God has provided with a ceremonial groundbreaking at the Exodus Mill. This will be a moment we remember for a long time.
  • We want every child who calls Exodus home to attend the Groundbreaking. Families are encouraged to attend the groundbreaking ceremony together.
  • The celebration will be short but meaningful, lasting 20-25 minutes. If you arrive at 9, you’ll miss most of it. Please plan to arrive early to get a parking space.
  • If you are only attending the groundbreaking ceremony, please complete one registration for your whole family.

Demo Day – 9:30am – 4pm

After we celebrate, we’ll get to work! We will be knocking down walls, tearing out ducting, and removing lots and lots of debris so that we can begin transforming the space into an amazing home for our congregation.

FAQ

I have little to no experience with construction or I’m physically limited; can I still help in some way?

All skills, ability, and experience levels are welcome. In addition to people who can swing sledgehammers and pry bars, we also need people to help with registration, parking, lunch, runners, and even people to pray and encourage others.

Should my whole family attend?

Families are encouraged to attend the groundbreaking ceremony together. Once the ceremony is finished, we will begin our Demo Day work and there will be strict rules for children for the safety of everyone.

  • Ages 4 and under will not be allowed on the construction site after the groundbreaking.
  • Ages 5-11 will be allowed to work in specific non-demolition areas alongside a parent.
  • Ages 12-17 will be allowed to work on teams throughout the building

How do I register?

If you’re only attending groundbreaking, we only need one registration form per family.

If you’re attending demo day, we need a separate registration for each person 18 and older as we ask specific questions about ability and preferences. Waivers must also be signed by everyone 18 and older.

If you are bringing children, only one parent needs to add them to their registration form.

Please complete the registration form at https://goo.gl/forms/68WkECN7Khg01Px92 by  Wednesday, 1/23, so we can assign teams. If your availability changes at the last minute and you discover that you can come, but missed the registration deadline, we will allow on-site registrations as needed.

What happens after I register?

Once you are registered, you must complete two waivers— a liability release and and a photo release. You will receive these via email after you register.

You can bring the completed waivers to the office and pick up your #demoday T-shirt on Thursday, 1/24, between 10am and 2pm or between 7pm and 8pm at the Exodus Office. If you can’t make it, we will also accept waivers and hand out T-shirts on-site Saturday morning.

You mean I get a T-shirt?

Yes, we are providing free #demoday T-shirts to everyone who comes to the groundbreaking ceremony and/or Demo Day.

How should I dress?

Come dressed to work in clothing that is comfortable, warm, and practical for a cold, dirty construction site. Layers are recommended and close-toed shoes are required. If you can put your #demoday T-shirt over your layers, that would be great. Don’t forget to bring work gloves and safety goggles if you have them.

What do I do on Demo Day?

When you arrive on-site Saturday, 1/26, we will have people to tell you where to park and where to go. Parking will be crowded, so plan to arrive between 8am and 8:30am so you will have plenty of time to get where you need to go.

After you park, everyone must go to the check-in station and receive a wristband and team assignment. You can also register, turn in waivers, and pick up a T-shirt if you haven’t already done so.

After check-in, you will go to the groundbreaking location. From there, you will be called by teams (the number on your wristband) for safety and work instructions, then you’ll move to your project area and get started.

Will there be food and drinks there?

We are providing lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. If you have dietary restrictions, please plan accordingly.
