The Snake Crusher: Introduction

by | Jan 5, 2017 | Blog

The Bible is a book of books written by over 40 authors over the course of more than 1500 years on various continents and in various contexts.
However, it tells one story: The Story of the Snake Crusher.

At the dawn of time, things were as they should be, a world of beauty and grandeur inhabited by a man and a woman who were to serve as icons of the Creator who loved them deeply.

Then, in a moment of rebellion, a chasm was ripped in the cosmos.

The created ones had determined to follow their own design rather than the Designer.

The union that had incited poetic joy was now marred with blame-filled shame and the Serpent snickered with pride in his victory. This rebellion would have dire consequences and require a monumental solution.

Into this chasm, the just one steps toward the unjust ones with a message of judgment for their rebellion, but also a word of hope.

There would be a Seed to come who will bruise the head of the Serpent with a bruised heel.

A Snake Crusher would be born to make all things right again. The Bible is the unfolding of that story. We see the Snake Crusher in people like Abraham, David, and Esther. We see the Snake Crusher’s heel in the sacrifices of Leviticus and the construction of the Temple. Then, finally, the Snake Crusher comes with the most delicate of heels—the heel of a baby. This baby lives a perfect life of obedience, crushing the Snake’s every temptation. He dies and rises again, and one day he will return to finish what was fulfilled. From Genesis 3:15 to Revelation 22, there is a story of stories—true stories—as God’s plan of restoration brings light to the darkness of history.

If you have ever wondered what the Bible is all about, The Story of the Snake Crusher will answer that question. Join us as we see the unfolding of this Grand Narrative.
