COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

ABOUT EXODUS CHURCH

Exodus Church started in 2009 with 30 adults and 15 children and a desire to be a church-planting church filled with disciple-making disciples. By God’s grace, we’ve become a growing church filled with people (young and old) who have come to faith, with lives transformed more into the image of God. We are hopeful for the future as we continue to seek to be a redeemed people who worship and serve God in the world.

Job Description

Commitment: 20 hours/week

What if I can’t come back yet?

Not everyone will be comfortable returning to worship services at The Mill at this time. We will continue to offer a quality video service each week for those who need it.

Primary Function

The Communication Director establishes a strategy and communication plan that is essential for the growth, health, and development of Exodus Church and then ensures the plan is achieved with excellence. The Communication Director is responsible for developing people, teams, and systems to ensure that the overall vision of the church is being communicated consistently and effectively across all platforms both internal and external.

Qualifications

Member of Exodus Church
Degree or equivalent experience in communications, professional writing, and editing
Excellent skills in writing, editing, collaboration, and leading teams
Good understanding of industry standards and willingness to continue evaluating and improving communication strategies
Knowledge of and willingness to grow in digital communications including social media and web presence.

Responsibilities

Internal Communications
- Establish Internal Communication Plan
  - Primary Audience: Those who call Exodus home
  - Primary Tools: Realm, Internal/External Signage
- Gather information from the calendar and collaborate with ministry leaders to schedule, plan, and write communication to be disseminated using a variety of outlets
- Build, lead, and develop a team of volunteers to assist in planning and creating communications, tactfully ensuring that the writing meets high quality standards and is consistent in style and tone.
- Coordinate closely with the Creative Director for graphic needs and website updates
- Routine Responsibilities
  - Weekly
    - Realm posts, arrange Sunday announcements, blog posts
    - Create and maintain communication schedules based on upcoming events
  - Monthly/Quarterly
    - Quarterly report, assess the communication effectiveness of information we have viewable in the facility
  - Annual / As Needed
    - Annual Report, Advent writings/readings, create reading schedule for sermon series, project-based communication needs
External Communications
- Establish External Communication Plan
  - Primary Audience: Those who do not yet call Exodus Home
  - Primary Tools: Website, Social Media Channels, YouTube
- Build, lead, and develop a team of volunteers to assist in planning and creating communications, tactfully ensuring that the writing meets high quality standards and is consistent in style and tone.
- Oversee Social Media Engagement and Communication
- Coordinate closely with the Creative Director for graphic needs and website updates
- Routine Responsibilities
  - Weekly
    - Blog posts, social media posts that look forward (communicate) and backward (celebrate)
    - Create and maintain communication schedules based on upcoming events and initiatives
  - Monthly/Quarterly
    - Assess the communication effectiveness of information we have in all online spaces
  - Annual / As Needed
    - Review Website, Social Media Accounts, etc to ensure that we are presenting our church in an excellent manner.
Other duties as assigned
Additional Expectations: In addition to the above duties, all employees are expected to maintain behavior and spiritual practice in keeping with the Scriptures, Exodus Church teachings, and the Exodus Church bylaws. Accountability for this will be addressed through ongoing communication and scheduled reviews with the supervisor.
