Written by Alex Kneen for week one of Advent At Exodus Church.
Light
Since Adam fell the world has stumbled blind
With death’s dark shadow chasing at its heel
And desperate men grasp fleeting hopes to find
Such hopes, like dreams, are brutally unreal.
But darkness would not have the final say
For God, in wisdom deeper than our sin,
Has set his zealous love on full display
And sent a savior swaddled in our skin
Then unto us a child was born! A son!
A brilliant flash of glory split the night!
His newborn cry, a herald of the dawn,
Has bid the sleeping world into the light.
So shake the fleeting hopes to which you cling
Awake O sleepers and behold your King!
