Prepare for Worship March 27

by | Mar 26, 2013 | News

As part of the week leading up to Easter we have a mid week worship service focusing our hearts on the work of Jesus through His death and resurrection.   Join us at 6 p.m. as we read texts together and celebrate through song.  Prepare by listening and reading below.

Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

and born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended into hell.

On the third day He rose again from the dead.

He ascended into heaven

and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy Universal Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

Who You Are

3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. (1 Corinthians 15:3-7, ESV)

Crown Him  by Ben Paisley

5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, (Philippians 2:5-10, ESV)

O Church Arise

Calvary’s Anthem,  Adapted from Valley of Vision, a collection of puritan prayers, by Valerie Stranathan

Heavenly Father,

You have led us singing to the cross

Where we fling down all our burdens

and see them vanish,

Where our mountains of guilt are leveled

and our sins disappear,

Though they are more in number than the sand.

there is power in the blood of Calvary

To destroy sins more than can be counted.

At the cross there is free forgiveness

for poor and meek ones,

And ample blessings that last forever.

The blood of the Lamb is like a great river

of infinite grace

As thirsty ones without number drink of it.

In the midst of a world of pain,

we will go on singing Calvary’s anthem.

It is a subject for praise in every place,

A song on earth, an anthem in heaven,

Its love and virtue knowing no end.
