It’s Christmas. And, we’re all in misery.

One of my favorite movies of the season is Christmas Vacation (judge if you must).  Though I can quote the whole thing, it still ends up on our holiday playlist of movies along with the other ones we have watched too many times.

One of my favorite lines is when Helen, when overwhelmed by all things Christmas and family in her home, says,

It’s Christmas and we’re all in misery.

Now, I love Christmas time.  I know that comes as a surprise to you.  But, even with that I know that this can be a challenging time for us.  David Kneen has done a great job commenting on this on our blog with a series on dealing with grief.  If you haven’t read those, I would encourage you to do so.  They will be helpful to you or someone you love.

During our Coming King series, we have been talking about Jesus coming to fulfill prophecy, as a Ruler with Strong Shoulders and Coming with a New Creation.  This week, we are dealing with Isaiah 42 – The Coming King’s Touch.  And without giving too much away…He’s really gentle…strong, but gentle.

If you or someone you know is struggling right now, the sermon on Sunday will be helpful.  We serve a great King who has come and is coming.  My prayer is that His gentle touch would be very real in our lives as we focus our hearts on Him.
