In a previous post, I commented about the importance of family worship. The follow are some resources we have found helpful as a family. I hope they are helpful to you.
Bibles to read with your kids
We used each of these with our children. They are well illustrated and fun to read. They are awesome!
Bibles for your kids to read
As our kids got older, we began searching for options that were more advanced, but still fun to read. The following Bibles are illustrated like comic books. Our kids love them.
ESV Children’s Bible – This is what you might call a “real Bible”. It has some pictures in it, but is predominantly the Bible. Our kids have used these as they have transitioned into worship and grown in their reading of the Bible.
Teaching/Discussion Resources
Each of these resources are helpful in teaching the truth of the Bible to children. They each provide good structure and insight into working with children.
Big Book of Questions and Answers
Gospel Story for Kids – OT and NT
Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers
Scripture Memory
Our kids love using both of these to memorize verses. The Memory Bible has lots of great resources to help them learn God’s Word – 52 verses in all. Fighter Verses has many more verses to learn and love. Both resources have proved helpful for our family.
Finally…
Keep going. Most of us have experienced missing days of personal Bible reading or devotions. If we just stop, we get in a dangerous place. When we miss, we need to get back in the rhythm that creates joy. Same with family devotions. I can’t tell you how many times we have started again and God has been gracious every time.
