Volunteering in Exodus Kids

by | Feb 4, 2021 | Blog, News

Our Exodus Kids ministry has always been one of the most vital and dynamic ministries at our church. Honestly, whenever there are kids involved, it’s hard not to be “vital and dynamic”!

We’ve always been a church with a lot of children. Pre-pandemic, we would have 125-150 kids in our program each Sunday. Our goal has always been to provide a caring, gospel-centered environment for them to learn and grow. Under the leadership of our Pastor of Family Ministries, Tyler Griffin, and our Children’s Coordinator, Kelsie Mery, we have a multitude of volunteers to teach and care for our babies through elementary.

Because caring for our children is important, every volunteer in our children’s area meets a long list of requirements.

  • Must be a regular attendee at Exodus for at least 6-months
  • Must be known to the leadership of Exodus
  • Must pass a background check (18+)
  • Must complete a MinistrySafe online training course (18+)
  • Must complete training on our policies and procedures

The volunteers serve in a number of different capacities within the Exodus Kids area. We have volunteers to greet parents and kids at check-in, cuddle babies, play cars with toddlers, sing with preschoolers, color with kindergarteners, talk doctrine with 5th graders, and everything in between. Each class has a teacher and at least one helper. Our K-5th class begins with a time of singing and dancing together, then is divided into rotations between scripture memory, crafts, games, and teaching.

If you’re an attendee at Exodus and would be interested in learning more about how to volunteer in Exodus Kids, you can stop by the Kids’ desk on Sunday morning or you can email our Children’s Coordinator, Kelsie Mery.
