In the first section of our series on Prayers for Exodus, we learn about God who is trustworthy, powerful, loving and kind. Because we can trust God’s heart for us, we know He will keep His promises, which are for our good, and His glory, to make us a blessing to others.

Father, you are faithful. You are a covenant-keeping God who fulfills all his promises. You are the maker of heaven and earth, the one who sets the stars in place. Thank you that you have revealed yourself to us, that you have drawn near to us, given us your name, and spoken to us by your word.

As you did with Abram and with Jacob and his family, you have called us out and made us your own. You have promised us an inheritance.

We did not choose you. You have set your love on us and promised to make us bear fruit for your glory. We so often fear. When we do, speak to us and let us see who you are, so our hearts find rest in you as our strong and faithful father.

Give us faith to remember all you have done, and to know that you will surely do all that you have promised.

Work through us, your people, to bless all the families of the earth.

“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:2-3).
