One Church Multiple Congregations Pt 4

by | Jul 16, 2012 | News

In the last post we discussed what things will be unified as we are moving forward as one church that will exist in multiple congregations. In this post we will take a look at what it will look like for the congregations to do things different. Moving forward things that are done differently at the congregations will be referred to as decentralized.

What will be different?

In the video we state that age specific ministries are examples of things that will be decentralized. What we mean is that each congregation will do things that are best for that congregation at that time. For example one congregation may have a need to develop a student ministry long before the other one. The elders at each congregation will prayerfully follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and wisdom to make these types of decisions. A benefit to being one church existing in multiple congregations is that leadership from different congregations can pray together and seek wise council from one another. However, in this model we want to remember that the movement exists for the congregations not the other way around. We want to always be conscious of this. Again, we only want what is centralized to be what is beneficial to each congregation. Because of this, we will want most day-to-day operations to be done at the congregational level under the leadership of the elders at that congregation.

Please continue to pray with us and watch for updates as we follow Jesus on this exciting journey.
