Thank you for your faithful prayers for the Echelon team in South Sudan. We recently received an update via Facebook from Maridith Lane, with permission to share:
Yes, we are alive! We are back in Wau for the weekend, doing resupply & banking. Maybe I should have prefaced our move (to a house in another area) by saying we’d have no internet… because we’ve gotten tons of messages checking in to see if we’re still breathing (Thank you for your concern!}. The past 2 weeks at our new home in Kuajok has been super encouraging during such a difficult time. We are still settling in and unpacking but Kuajok really has begun to feel like home. We had an amazing Christmas, complete with 10 armed guards surrounding our house through the night. Local police are taking our safety incredibly seriously and are super encouraged that we have decided to remain in South Sudan during this unrest. We were able to attend a baptism celebration of a local church and have been very encouraged by local believers. Even though our physical conditions are very extreme, the Lord has paved an easy road for the outward spiritual task. The Dinka Rek are hungry for the ways of Jesus and are eager for His peace. Feeling grateful this new year that though we suffer a little while, we lack no good thing. Happy 2014 from me to you!
Please continue to pray, and praise God for His faithful provision. We will update further as we get new information.
