Since October 2020, our elders have been diligently searching for someone to fill the role of Pastor of Discipleship and Development.
From a pool of 50 interested applicants, through research, interviews, and visits, the elders have selected one candidate that we are presenting to the church for their consideration. Tyler Boyette, an army veteran, comes to us from Wake Forest, NC, where he currently serves as Growth Groups Coordinator under the Pastor of Discipleship of Imago Dei Church, as well serving as a Bible teacher and Dean of Student Life at a private Christian school. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and has completed two pastoral internships.
Tyler has a passion for helping people follow Jesus and a desire to see people changed by the gospel. He believes God has placed three callings on his life: to be a faithful follower of Christ, to be a godly husband and father, and to serve Him as a pastor, specifically to a role of overseeing the discipleship strategies and structures within a church, leading a church through individual discipleship, equipping leaders, and developing discipleship structures. He, along with his wife and two children, is humbled and excited about the possibility of serving Exodus for many years to come.
For each elder candidate, there is a process that we use to present and confirm the candidate. Tyler has been presented to the congregation on Sunday, 4/18. Everyone inside and outside of Exodus has the opportunity over the next two weeks to submit any questions or concerns to the elders. Our members will vote whether or not to approve him as an elder on 5/2-5/3, and we will announce the results on Sunday, 5/9.
